The State government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter of IGMC langar service. ” Whereas certain issues regarding operationalization of langar service at IGMC, Shimla including allotment of its premises, terms and conditions etc have come to the notice of the state government, ” stated a order by Balbir Singh, Under secretary Home. Adding” and whereas it has been considered necessary to conduct a magisterial enquiry to have a close scrutiny of the issues to ensure proper resolution , in the public interest.”
As per State government order Rahul Chauhan, ADM (Law & Order) Shimla, has been appointed enquiry officer in the matter. He is supposed to submit an enquiry report to the government in a period of 15 days.
This matter again came to light when last week, the hospital authorities with the help of state police, moved out all utensils and other equipment being used by an NGO All Mighty blessings’ from the hospital premises. The authorities at IGMC stated that the said NGO had encroached into government land and thus had to be removed from there, and therefore the action was being taken.
However, the action invited troubles for the hospital authorities. As, thereafter a lot of reaction were noted by all i.e citizens, NGOs and political parties, against the move by the hospital authorities.
Pertinent to mention, that ‘Bobby Singh, of All Mighty Blessings had been running a free 24X7 langar services for poor and needy in the hospital premises since 2014. However, in beginning of 2021, it was known that the IGMC administration, has allocated the langar space to some other social worker or organization. Thereafter based on statements by both (All Mighty blessings and IGMC admn.) it became evident that relations were no more cordial between both.
Bobby Singh in January this year had leveled allegations of being victimized at the hands of IGMC administration. He had demanded that the tender of the Rain basera, which he had helped building up should be cancelled and should not be given to a single party.
However, even then and till date, the IGMC administrator Dr Janakraj has maintained that ‘Social workers, too, need to follow law and procedures.” The Medical superintendent has questioned that how is it possible that someone build structures on government land without permission and then stake claim to it.
Reacting on the government enquiry order today, the IGMC medical superintendent has stated that the hospital administration is not against anybody wanting to do social service. Adding,” Our job is to stop illicit use of the hospital resources.
Bobby Singh who is recovering from ailment in Chandigarh these days, could not be contacted for his reaction on the State government’ decision.
