Shimla, Dec 11
State Congress President and former MP Pratibha Singh has accused the BJP of engaging in “petty politics” and called for the Raj Bhawan to be kept free of political maneuvering. Singh’s remarks came in response to a memorandum submitted by BJP leaders to the Governor, protesting the Congress-led government’s two-year celebration.
Singh alleged that the BJP was using the issue to serve its political interests, adding that such events were a common practice for any government to highlight its achievements and outline future plans. She pointed out that during the BJP’s tenure, the state had faced economic challenges, with the party spending large sums on events like government anniversaries and investor meets, which she claimed had done little to benefit the state’s economy.
She emphasized that the Congress government had every right to inform the public about its accomplishments and future goals. Singh also expressed confidence that public opinion in the state was firmly behind the Congress and that the BJP could not undermine this support.
