Sixteen citizens of Himachal Pradesh, got stranded enroute the Adi Kailash Yatra of Uttarakhand, confirmed a state diaster Management authority spokesperson here today. Pilgrims from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh got stranded on the Adi Kailash Yatra near Budhi, due to destruction of a connecting road. The road got blocked owing to bad weather conditions like rain/snow on September 17.
The spokesperson stated that the disaster Management Cell has established communication with District Administration Pithoragarh, UK for the evacuation and providing assistance to the stranded. He said that on September 18, helicopter sorties were conducted in which among 15 people, one Himachali (named as Govind) was evacuated from Budhi to Dharchula. On Monday, four sorties have been conducted in which three himachali (Smt. Rajkumari, Kirti Saroop and Babita were brought down from Budhi to Dharchula, whereafter heli-Operation got suspended due to the weather conditions.
Now, the District Administration, Pithoragarh is in the process of restoring the damaged road by today’s evening so that all the stranded persons will be evacuated by road, stated the spokesperson.
Those standed from the state of Himachal Pradesh are identified as Govind – Nirmand Kullu, Rajkumari- Nirmand Kullu, Ker Singh, Nirmand, Kullu, Jeev Singh, Nirmand Kullu, Devi Ram Rampur, Shimla, Poonam Kumari- Karsog Shimla, Gunjan Devi- Karsog Shimla, Manta Singh- Karsog Shimla, Urmila- Karsog Shimla, Juri Lal- Karsog Shimla, Lata- Karsog Shimla, Kirti Saroop Jhakari- Shimla, Poonam Kumari- Jhakari Shimla, Devi Dutt- Kullu, Babita- Kullu, and Kala Negi -Kullu.
