Higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh have experienced the first major snowfall along with incessant rainfall in downstream areas has intensified the cold-wave condition. Public Relation department spokesperson of Kaza Ajay Banyal said that Losar and Chichum village of Spiti subdivision have received the first major snowfall as dark clouds are hovering over other lofty mountains which are also receiving moderate snowfall in parts of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnuar and Chamba district. Minimum temperature at Kaza has dropped below freezing point and district headquarter Keylong recorded three degrees.
The lower parts of the State also are witnessing incessant heavy rain which is continuing since last night. In Kangra district Guler (heritage village) recorded 81.5 mm rain, Dharamshala 81.3 mm, Gohar (Mandi) & Paonta Sahib (Sirmaur) 80 mm each. Indian Meteorological department forecast states, that light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is likely to continue in the districts of Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla, Bilaspur, Mandi, Hamirpur, Kulli, Lahaul – Spiti, Kinnaur and adjoining areas with low visibility conditions. Heavy rainfall likely in the districts of Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla, Bilaspur and Mandi. Met office said that Snowfall likely to occur in the high reaches of Lahaul – Spiti . Kinnaur. Weather is likely to become clear after three hours.
