Shimla, Oct 28,
In a bid to level the playing field for students from government schools, the Himachal Pradesh Government has rolled out a free JEE and NEET coaching programme for meritorious Class 11 students across the state. The initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Education, aims to empower talented students from economically weaker backgrounds to compete successfully for admissions to premier professional institutions.
An online selection test was recently organized across all 12 districts, witnessing participation from over 7,000 students. The exam, conducted through physical question papers and OMR sheets, is being digitally evaluated to maintain transparency and precision. Students who clear this test will gain access to free online live interactive classes, structured to cover the complete syllabi of both JEE and NEET.
The comprehensive coaching module includes two classes daily, six days a week, with personalized mentoring, doubt-clearing sessions, weekly tests, and continuous performance tracking. Students will also be provided study material, scholarships, exam registration support, and counseling to help them navigate the competitive exam process effectively.
To further strengthen preparation, the selected students will attend an offline residential bootcamp, where they will undergo intensive practice sessions and expert mentoring designed to boost confidence and conceptual clarity.
Director of Education Rajesh Sharma said the initiative reflects the government’s broader vision of ensuring equity, quality, and access in education.
“Our aim is not limited to academic performance; we want to nurture every student’s potential and help them achieve excellence beyond textbooks,” he stated.
The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government has also introduced key academic reforms such as the adoption of the CBSE curriculum in 100 government schools in the first phase — a move expected to enhance competitiveness and increase the representation of Himachali students in national-level institutes.
By combining technology-driven learning with targeted mentoring, this flagship initiative positions Himachal Pradesh among the few states in India providing structured, state-sponsored support for aspirants of elite professional exams.
