A sensitive case has emerged from Rajgarh Civil Hospital in Sirmaur district, where a fetus was discovered in a hospital toilet, prompting a detailed police investigation that has now led to the identification of a minor through CCTV footage.
The incident came to light when a member of the hospital’s cleaning staff, during routine duty, noticed a suspicious object lodged in a toilet seat.
Upon closer inspection, it was found to be a fetus. The hospital administration was immediately alerted, following which the police were informed and a formal case was registered.
Investigators examined CCTV footage from cameras installed across the hospital premises. The footage revealed a minor entering the facility and subsequently accessing the toilet area.
By reconstructing the timeline of her movements, police were able to identify and locate the minor for questioning.
During interrogation, the minor stated that she had come to the hospital complaining of stomach pain.
In the course of recording her statement, she alleged that she had been sexually assaulted by a young man. Acting on her allegations, the police have registered a separate case under relevant legal provisions and initiated a probe to verify the facts and identify the accused.

The fetus recovered from the scene has been sent for forensic examination.
Preliminary assessment suggests a gestational age of approximately four to five months, though officials said that confirmation will depend on the final medical report.
Police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the condition of the fetus and the sequence of events leading up to its discovery, to establish a complete and accurate account.
Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, NS Negi stated that the matter is highly sensitive and is being handled with strict confidentiality.
He emphasized that the identity of the minor would be protected in accordance with legal provisions, and that further action will be based on forensic findings, medical reports, and technical evidence.
Authorities have assured that the investigation will be conducted in a fair and thorough manner and in first instance matter appeared to be of POCSO.
