Shimla, July 30
ASI Pankaj Sharma, one of the key early responders in the high-profile Vimal Negi death case, has moved the Himachal Pradesh High Court challenging alleged infringement of his personal liberty.
The petition was heard by Justice Ajay Mohan Goel on Wednesday. In response to an application filed along with the petition, the court allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), through the Superintendent of Police, Shimla, to be impleaded as respondent No.5.
The petitioner alleged that he was provided security at his home and a CCTV camera was installed at his house in violation of his personal liberty.
The amended memo of parties was ordered to be taken on record. The matter will now be heard on August 20, with the court directing all respondents to file their replies by then.
Pankaj Sharma is posted as an Assistant Sub-Inspector at Sadar Police Station, Shimla.
Noteworthy that Sharma was among the first officers who recovered the body of HPPCL Chief Engineer Vimal Negi from the Bhakra Dam (Gobind Sagar Lake) on March 18. Negi had gone missing from the HPPCL headquarters in New Shimla on March 10.
It is worthwhile to mention that recently CBI conducted search at the home of ASI Pankaj to recover some incrementing documents, recently.
