Three workers from Jharkhand tragically lost their lives in an avalanche near the Hydropower project Kafnu in Kinnaur district. The victims were identified as Riuman Kindo (42) from Urmi village, Virma Urao (45) from Kuchatole village, and Ratan Lal (32) from Kuchatole village. Two others, Krishna (38) from Nepal and Chandra Nath (43) from Lwanage village in Jharkhand, sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at a local hospital in Bhavnagar.
In Lahaul Spiti’s Kaza subdivision, heavy snowfall triggered an avalanche, affecting Chhering Angdui and his family in Lalung village. Despite the late-night disaster, Angdui managed to rescue his wife and three children from beneath the snow, saving their lives. Currently, the family is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy snowfall and rain in Himachal Pradesh on March 13 and 14 due to an active western disturbance. High-altitude districts may experience light snowfall, while hailstorms are expected in middle and lower areas.
Following the disturbance, clear weather is anticipated in Himachal Pradesh until March 20.
The minimum temperatures in various locations across the state have been recorded, including Shimla (7.6°C), Manali (8.4°C), Kangra (11.3°C), Mandi (11.1°C), Bilaspur (9.9°C), Chamba (10.3°C), Dalhousie (6.9°C), Jubbarhatti (10.8°C), Kufri (6.4°C), Narkanda (3.8°C), Reckong Peo (3.8°C), Seubagh (12.0°C), Dhaula Kuan in Sirmaur (13.2°C), Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur (12.0°C), Seubagh (5.0°C), and Dehradun Gopipur in Kangra (12.0°C).
