Bear attack in Nankhadi village of Shimla dist leaves two women injured
Shimla, Dec 9
In an incident, a bear attacked two women, Parveena and Sangeeta, during their morning walk in Khuni Panoli village, Nankhadi, Rampur, Shimla. The victims sustained severe injuries, with the bear causing significant damage to their legs. Both women are currently undergoing treatment at Khaneri Hospital in Rampur.
The attack occurred on Friday morning when the women were near a drain, a short distance from their homes. The bear, accompanied by her cub, emerged from the hills and pounced on the unsuspecting victims. This incident has reignited concerns about the recurring bear menace in the area.
Rajeshwar Kalyan, the Range Officer, was promptly informed of the incident, and the Forest Department provided immediate assistance. Each of the victims received financial aid of five thousand rupees to support their medical treatment.
The local community is now grappling with a sense of panic, particularly affecting the safety of women and children. Parents are apprehensive about allowing their children to go out of house unaccompanied, as the fear of encountering bear has become a pressing concern. This incident is unfortunately not an isolated one, as similar bear attacks have occurred in the region in the past.
