According to official sources, CM Sukhu departed for the Maldives yesterday and is expected to return on February 23. His trip, coming shortly after the foreign visits of other council members, has drawn sharp criticism from the BJP. The BJP accused the Chief Minister of being indifferent to the state’s pressing administrative concerns.
“At a time when crucial government positions remain vacant and the party organization lacks direction, the Chief Minister’s decision to prioritize leisure over leadership is deeply disappointing,” a BJP spokesperson stated.
Further controversy arose as Congress State president Pratibha Singh also expressed dissatisfaction with the Chief Minister. She accused him of delaying key appointments of party officials and chairpersons, many of whom are dedicated Congress workers.
The opposition has particularly taken issue with his absence at a time when the State Congress unit is undergoing restructuring.
Before departing for the Maldives, CM Sukhu reportedly held discussions with the AICC leadership to form new unit of Himachal Pradesh Congress committee which had dissolved in June last year.
