The car, registered as HP 80 0001, was issued a challan, with fines ranging between ₹1,500 and ₹3,000 under traffic regulations. Police confirmed that only the driver was present in the vehicle at the time. Local police authorities stated, “This road is restricted for all vehicles, and action has been taken as per the law.”
Authorities reiterated that Mall Road and Ridge Ground remain strictly off-limits to vehicles, except for emergency and pre-approved VIP entries. This is not an isolated case—earlier, Congress MLA Captain Ranjit Rana’s car was also fined for a similar violation.
The police stressed that traffic rules apply equally to VIPs and common citizens. The BJP has not yet commented on the incident.
