Shimla, July 20,
In the aftermath of a challenging outcome in the nine recent assembly bypolls, the BJP State Executive Committee convened in Una on Friday, passing two pivotal resolutions that address both national and state political issues.
The first resolution celebrated Narendra Modi’s third consecutive term as Prime Minister, commending his efforts in implementing numerous public welfare schemes that have positively impacted millions across India.
The second resolution criticized the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, pointing out corruption and administrative inefficiencies. Despite the internal silence regarding the BJP government’s lack of substantial financial aid to Himachal Pradesh and the party’s defeat in the by-elections, the committee took a firm stance.
MLA Trilok Janwal introduced a proposal concerning the current scenario of the central government, which was supported by State General Secretary Bihari Lal Sharma and Rajya Sabha MP Indu Goswami. The state political situation was addressed by MLA Randhir Sharma, with Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sikandar Kumar and MP Anurag Singh Thakur backing the resolution.
At a press conference following the meeting, BJP State Spokesperson Randhir Sharma strongly criticized the Congress government for its alleged governance failures. He accused the state government of wasting a year on complaints about financial shortages and another six months on stabilizing the administration. Sharma extended his critique to the Chief Minister’s office, accusing it of corruption and condemning the government’s inadequate disaster compensation and poor law enforcement.
The meeting also recognized the BJP’s success in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where the party won all four seats in Himachal Pradesh. The committee lauded the Modi government’s swift actions post-election, including extending Ayushman Bharat Yojana benefits to all elderly over 70 years, providing housing to 3 crore underprivileged citizens through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, enhancing the Kisan-Samman Nidhi scheme, and increasing the tenure of Agniveer jawans from four to seven years.
