A cloudburst was reported in Damrali under Taklech Panchayat of Rampur area of Shimla district late this evening, confirmed a district administration officials.
Heavy rainfall in Damrali and Taklech in the late evening led to a massive flood in the nearby stream due to the cloudburst in the upper part of Damrali. When this flood occurred, the residents of Taklech clearly heard the roaring sound of the stream. People rushed out of their homes. As a result, the power supply was disrupted, and the mobile tower in Damrali also stopped functioning. This has affected the mobile signal in six panchayats in the area.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap stated that as soon as the information was received, a team led by SDM Rampur, Nishant Tomar, was dispatched to the site.
So far, no casualties or injuries have been reported. However, preliminary information indicates that approximately 30 meters of road has been damaged in the area, they informed. Additionally, power supply in the region has been disrupted.
The Deputy Commissioner mentioned that the team sent to the site includes DSP Rampur, Naib Tehsildar, field staff, and police personnel. Further actions will be decided based on the information gathered from the ground.
SDM Nishant Tomar reported that the team couldn’t reach the site because the road had broken at one point. However, the local Panchayat Pradhan confirmed over the phone that there has been no report of any loss of life or property. Therefore, they will head to the site in the morning.
Also news arriving that NH5 in Nigulsari of Kinnaur has been disrupted due to caving in of the road. A media communique by Authorities stated that NH 5 has been closed for all vehicles.
