The recent All India Congress Convention held in Ahmedabad has injected fresh energy into party workers across the country, said All India Congress Committee spokesperson and Theog MLA, Kuldeep Singh Rathore. Addressing a press conference, Rathore described the convention as a major success and claimed that its “war cry” against the BJP would soon resonate nationwide.

Rathore emphasized that the Congress party is committed to strengthening its organizational structure from the booth level up to the district level. “District presidents will be empowered and involved in major party meetings. They will also play a key role in the selection of candidates for upcoming elections,” he stated.
He added that accountability will be enforced within the party ranks, reiterating the resolve of national leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to fortify the party at the grassroots level.
However, he also acknowledged the pressing internal issues facing the party in Himachal Pradesh. Noteworthy that despite being a compact state with just 12 districts and a population of around 70 lakh, the Congress has not appointed district presidents or constituted working committees for over six months.
This organizational void has demoralized party workers and loyalists, who await clarity following the Ahmedabad convention. Political observers and veterans alike have raised concerns over the high command’s failure to revamp the state unit, warning that the lack of structure is weakening the party’s presence in the hill state.
Rathore, reflecting on his own tenure as state president, said that he had focused on reviving the party’s prospects in constituencies where it had long been on the back foot. “No victory is impossible if the intention is strong,” he said, expressing confidence that Congress would make significant gains in Gujarat this time.
On another note, Rathore welcomed the temporary 90-day suspension of the US tariff war, but called upon the central government to take stronger steps to protect the interests of Indian farmers and orchardists. He reiterated the demand to increase import duties on apples, highlighting that foreign imports are damaging Himachal Pradesh’s ₹5,000-crore apple economy.
