The fixation of schedule for the first cabinet meeting on January 13, brings good news for three lakh state employees and about 1.80 beneficiary of NPS. It seems finally, the Sukhwinder Singh government has decided to swallow the bitter pill by giving a green signal to the Old Pension Scheme.
Cabinet Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan told media person here today that the first cabinet meeting was scheduled on January 13. Chauhan, minister without portfolio in the Sukhu government, made this claim in a conversation.
Chauhan said that the Jairam government bankrupted the State by indulging in unproductive expenditure, which has now inherited empty coffers to the Congress government. Yet the Sukhu government would fulfil the promise with the employees. Chauhan said that in the very first meeting of the cabinet, seal will be put in the matter of OPS. The finance department has prepared a complete blueprint and two-three options have been suggested. After brainstorming on these in the cabinet meeting, a decision would be taken and OPS will be restored. He further added that the restoration would not put much financial burden on the state. Since 2003, there are only 23 thousand employees who have retired.
Regarding the portfolio allocation, Harshvardhan Chouhan said that perhaps the they will be allotted today.
