Shimla, Mar 6
The disqualified MLA from Sujanpur assembly constituency of Congress party Rajinder Rana has today tendered resignation from the post of working President of Himachal Pradesh Congress committee. Forwarding copy of resignation to Congress president Malikarjun Khadge AICC general secretary V C Venugopal, State Congress incharge Rajiv Shukla and HPCC president Pratibha Singh Rana said that he resigns from the post of working President of HPCC with immediate effect.
It is worthwhile to mention that sword of suspension was hanging on Rana as he is among the six Congress members who crossed over in Rajya sabha poll on February 27, 2024. Earlier this morning Sudhir Sharma, MLA from Dharamshala was also terminated from the post of secretary of AICC.
Meanwhile, all the six MLAs continue to remain holed up in a five star luxury hotel in Panchkula and are being reportedly extended security by the CRPF and Haryana police since they voted in favour of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan. Other disqualified MLAs include Ravi Thakur of Lahaul Spiti, Inderdutt Lakhanpal of Barsar, Devinder Bhutto from Kutlehar and Chetyana Sharma from Gagret.
After the cross voting the Congress Party had taken strong disciplinary action against the six dissidents and moved disqualification petition on February 28 with a firm resolve that they will not be taken back in the state unit even though it may cost the State government in Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Public Works department Minister Vikramaditya Singh and his mother and Congress State president Pratibha Singh continue indicating soft corner seeking party to include them back in the state unit. However AICC stated clearly that the cross voting and defying party whip in the state budget session of State government could not be ignored.
Sources from Congress party inform that during the various meeting held between the AICC and duo of son and mother party it has been conveyed that there is no place for such indiscipline party leaders who embarrass the party and place then at a receiving end in the country.
