Shimla, May 2
As the Coal crisis is looming large in the peak summer season in southeast Asia, various Indian stakeholders of the energy sector gathered at Shimla in cool climes to brainstorm a plan to achieve energy efficiency and early execution of power projects, and energy audits and utilisation of Hydrogen as a fuel source.
A spokesperson of the state government said in a press statement here today that ASSOCHAM organise “First Stakeholders Workshop for Preparation of State Energy Efficiency Action Plan” for the state of Himachal. With the aegis of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, the duo is reportedly preparing a short or long term plan. Inaugurating the workshop, Harikesh Meena, Director (Energy), suggested that the action plan find the areas in which all the stakeholder departments were working and have initiated implementing energy efficiency. Discussion points for this workshop were: Proper implementation of Swaran Jayanti Energy Policy, 2021, Himachal Pradesh Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, Successful implementation of PAT Scheme, ECBC implementation, Energy Audit of Government buildings, Hydrogen fuel utilisation etc. Apart from these, it was also emphasised that the action plan should list out policies in the state for Energy Efficiency and their impact in quantitative form so that targets could be set for the state, which could provide a realistic picture of how much effort has gone into energy efficiency. Officials from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, and GOI were invited to the workshop virtually.
Ashish Kudal and Vipul Shardanandan, Project Coordinator, hailed the participants on behalf of ASSOCHAM and urged continuous support for the successful completion of the state. The workshop was attended by more than 30 senior government officials from various stakeholder departments such as Buildings, Industries, Agriculture, Transportation, DISCOM /Utilities and Municipalities and gave suggestions for the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan.ASSOCHAM presented the inception report and surveys for the stakeholder inputs and recommendations to be incorporated into the action plan.
