Exam Result stress : Students ends life in Shimla

In a tragic incident, a student allegedly died after attempting suicide at Annadale area outskirt of this capital town, reportedly unable to cope with the outcome of his Class-12th examination result.
Superintendent of Police Shimla Garauv Singh said that case registered under police station West in Shimla as the incident came to light on May 4 when a friend of the deceased alerted authorities through the 112 helpline, stating that the student hand hanged himself at Thakur Bagh of Annadale.
Acting swiftly , a police team reached the spot and found the boy dead inside his residence.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Thakur Bagh. During preliminary inquiry, deceased father informed police that the boy had been under considerable mental stress following his ten plus two examination results.

Police said that no external injury marks were found on the body during initial inspection, indicating no sign of foul play. A senior police official also visited the scene and supervised the proceedings. The spot was thoroughly documented through photography and videography and statement of witnesses were recorded.
After completing legal formalities, the body has been shifted to the mortuary of Indira Gandhi Medical College for post-mortem examination. Relevant procedural form have been filled and officials stated that the family has not expressed any suspicion regarding the circumstances of death.
Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report, police added. The incident has once again highlighted concerns over academic pressure and mental health challenges faced by students.
