Shimla, June 20
In a dramatic event, a firing incident near the Bilaspur court in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday has left a youth injured. The injured, identified as Saurabh Patial, is the main accused in the attack on former Congress MLA Bamber Thakur. Patial had come to the court for a scheduled appearance following his bail in the assault case approximately one and a half months ago.
The shooting unfolded when unknown assailants opened fire at Patial as he approached the court. In the chaos, Patial managed to run towards the court, seeking refuge. The firing shattered the glass of several vehicles in the vicinity, adding to the commotion.
Noteworthy that this would be the first ever such incident in Bilaspur area.
Promptly responding to the incident, the police arrived at the scene, and Patial was immediately referred to a local hospital before being transferred to AIIMS for advanced treatment due to the severity of his injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Bilaspur, Abid Hussain Sadik, confirmed the incident, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
DSP Madan Dhiman, who is leading the investigation, reported that the police successfully apprehended one suspect, while another remains at large. The authorities have launched an intensive search operation to locate the absconding individual.
This incident has raised concerns about security in the court complex and the safety of individuals involved in legal proceedings. The police are rigorously investigating the motive behind the attack and the identities of the perpetrators. The community awaits further details as the investigation unfolds, hoping for swift justice and enhanced security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
