Shimla, March 10- Five days after Manikaran incident, HP Police constitue a SIT
‘Ruffling feathers’ by the Himachal Pradesh High court, taking suo moto cognizance into Manikaran Valley incident on Thursday, the State police responded by constituting a SIT in the matter. A Press release issued by the State police spokesperson said that a SIT was constitued into the case registered of March 6 under section 147, 148, 149, 427 of IPC and section 03 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act registered in Police Station Kullu. The incidence occurred on 05-03-2023 at Manikaran.

A spokesperson said that the a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be headed by Madhu Sudan, DIG-Central Range, Mandi consisting of Sakshi Verma, SP Kullu and Bhagat Singh Thakur, Commandant 3rd IRBn Pandoh for the investigation of this case. SIT has been directed to take up the investigation of this case immediately and carry out professional and impartial investigation to ensure transparency.
The Term of Reference ( TOR ) of the SIT would carry out professional and impartial investigation of above mentioned case to ensure that the ends of justice are met.
The SIT would investigate the above case thoroughly & expeditiously and will update the Police Headquarters with regard to the progress of investigation periodically. The SIT would take over the investigation of above case immediately.
It is worthwhile to mention that Himachal Pradesh High court has taken suo moto cognizance into this incident registering PIL in the matter on Thursday. State chief Secretary, Secretary Home, District Magistrate Bilaspur and Kullu and SP Bilaspur and Kullu has been directed to submit status report in the case issuing notice to them.
