Fresh spell of Snow, Widespread incessant rain in Himachal

Himachal Pradesh experience a fresh spell of snow in the high reaches of Shimla, Sirmour and Kullu on Friday. Moreover widespread incessant rain also disrupted normal life in past 24 hrs.
State Disaster Management authority spokesperson confirmed that Churdhar of Shimla district recorded one feet (30cm) fresh snowfall followed by Dodrakawar had 15 cm (half feet ), The Gateway of Lahaul-Spiti district Rohtang pass ( 13050 ft) 11.50 cm, Jalori-jot paas (12500 ft ) 10 cm, North portal of Rohtang tunnel five cm and south Portal of Rohtang tunnel three cm.
Solan registered highest 40 mm rain, Nahan (Sirmour)36 cm, Dhaulakaun 22 mm, Narkanda 20 mm, Dalhousie 17 mm, Kangra 16 mm, Kufri 14.5mm, Mandi 13 mm, Una 12 mm and Sundernagar 10 mm. Rainfall also recorded at Manali and Bhuntar in Kullu district.
Weather effects
Around 198 Distribution Transformer Regions are affected in the state most of in Rajgarh and Nahan subdivision. One National Highway and 11 roads are snowbound in the state. Many roads of Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur register landslide and boulders disrupted vehicular traffic. According to Met Office vehicular traffic was also affected due to low visibility and overcast of fogs in the state.
Manali Leh highway
There is also chaotic state of traffic conditions on Manali-Leh Highway as today about 1265 vehicles moved from Atal Tunnel Rohtang towards Sissu on Manali to Leh NH,-3. Due to light snowfall starting at 1300hrs in the northern and southern ends of the Atal Tunnel, the vehicles were immediately turned back due to slippery roads. These vehicles were sent safely to Manali in time by the police personnel working in the security of District Police Lahaul Spiti and Atal Tunnel Rohtang.
In case of forecast of bad weather in the coming days in the district, it is advised to postpone unnecessary journeys on Manali-Keylong road, they stated.
Minimum tempratures
Minimum temperature plummet several degree below normal as Shimla was 7.2 degrees, Bhuntar 11.9 degrees, Kalpa 3.5, Dharamshala 11.2 degrees, Una 14.8 degrees, Nahan 12.8 degrees, Keylong 2.3 Solan 10 degrees, Manali 8.2 degrees, Kangra 14, Mandi 14.5, Bilaspur 16, Hamirpur 15,Chamba 12,Airport Jubberhatti 10, Kufri 4 and Narkanda 3.3 degrees. Met office forecast yellow alert in next 24 hrs and inclement weather conditions persist in few places.
