Rich tributes were paid to Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary at the historic Ridge in Shimla.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, and several dignitaries offered floral tributes to the late leader.
Remembering Vajpayee, Governor Shukla described him as a visionary statesman who upheld the highest moral values throughout his political career. He said Vajpayee considered Himachal Pradesh his second home and never compromised with corruption to stay in power. “Walking on the path of truth, integrity, and value-based politics shown by him will be our true tribute,” the Governor remarked.
Chief Minister Sukhu recalled Vajpayee as a respected leader across party lines, known for his clarity of thought and oratory skills. “He had a deep emotional bond with Himachal Pradesh, where he also had a residence in Prini, Kullu district,” the Chief Minister noted.
Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, former MP Pratibha Singh, former minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, MLA Harish Janartha, DC Anupam Kashyap, councillors, senior officials, and other dignitaries also attended the event.
On the occasion, artists presented patriotic songs and bhajans in memory of the late leader, who continues to be revered for his simplicity, statesmanship, and the affection he commanded across the nation.
