Shimla, Nov 1,
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed that all FIRs, case records, and investigation reports related to the ongoing Rs 1,500 crore property dispute involving a historic charitable trust founded by Brahmo Samaj reformers in Shimla be produced before it at the next hearing.
The division bench of Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Jiya Lal Bhardwaj issued the directive while passing a detailed three-page order on Thursday.
The matter pertains to multiple criminal cases and investigations surrounding the ownership and management of the prime trust property located in the heart of Shimla. The court took note of several pending proceedings in different forums, including those in the district court, where charge sheets have been filed in some FIRs while cancellation reports are pending in others.
The bench observed that since several related matters are already before various courts and have even reached the Supreme Court in connected proceedings, it would be appropriate to call for the entire record before taking a view on the issue. The order directs the Superintendent of Police, Shimla, through the investigating officers concerned, to place before the bench all relevant documents, charge sheets, and cancellation reports in the pending FIRs at the next hearing.
The case has drawn attention after the Shimla Police recently booked persons associated with the Ramakrishna Mission and individuals affiliated with right-wing organizations in connection with the dispute. The court noted that the matters appear to arise out of cross-allegations and rival claims concerning the functioning and control of the Himalayan Brahmo Samaj, Shimla.
The division bench has listed the matter for further hearing on December 16, 2025, when the state police and other respondents are expected to file their replies and place the full record before the court.
