Heatwave persists across HP; WDs likely to bring weather change from Jun 11
Shimla, June 10,
Most parts of Himachal Pradesh continued to experience hot weather conditions on Wednesday, with temperatures remaining above normal in several districts even as isolated areas received light rainfall during the past 24 hours.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Una recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 42.8 degrees Celsius, while Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti remained the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius.
The weather office said there was no significant change in minimum and maximum temperatures across most stations.
However, maximum temperatures in many areas were 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal, indicating continued heat stress in lower and mid-hill regions.
Several places witnessed light to moderate rainfall. Sarahan in Shimla district recorded the highest precipitation at 30 mm, followed by Palampur with 9.4 mm, Manali with 6 mm and Rohru with 8 mm.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning were reported from Sundernagar, Jot and Kangra, while Palampur experienced a hailstorm. Strong winds reaching 63 kmph were recorded at Neri in Hamirpur district.
The IMD has forecast isolated rainfall activity on June 10, with weather conditions likely to become more active from June 11 onwards.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected at isolated places between June 11 and June 13. Hailstorms are also likely at isolated locations on June 11 and 12.
Meteorologists attributed the anticipated change in weather to a fresh Western Disturbance likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from June 11.
The department has advised residents, farmers and tourists to remain alert to sudden weather changes, especially in areas vulnerable to thunderstorms and strong winds.
