Heavy rains disrupt life in Himachal Pradesh: Horticulture and Crops at Risk

The ongoing heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh continues to disrupt daily life, with increasing concerns about its impact on horticulture and standing crops. Reports indicate partial damage in certain areas, while power outages have added to the difficulties faced by residents.
Authorities are urging people to remain indoors, keep abreast of the latest updates from media sources, and avoid unnecessary travel. With no signs of the monsoon letting up, caution remains paramount for those in the region.
Monday’s rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has varied across different areas, with Kotkhai in Shimla recording 24.2 mm of rain. Bharmaur in Chamba experienced 20 mm, while Dhaulakuan in Sirmour received 16.5 mm. Other significant measurements include 15 mm in Khadrala and 12 mm in Narkanda, both in Shimla, as well as 12 mm in Solan and 11 mm in Manali.
Mesnwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued back-to-back advisories for August 27 and 28, alerting residents to the likelihood of intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across various districts, including Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Sirmour, and Kinnaur.
