High reaches of Himachal Pradesh experience light snow
Shimla, Dec 23,
The high reaches of Himachal Pradesh including, Chamba, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur and few parts of Kullu, Kangra, Shimla and Mandi had light spell of rain and snow early morning on Saturday however most of tourist favourite locations were partly cloudy and reeling under coldwave conditions since past 24 hrs.
Before Christmas many high peaks of Lahaul Spiti, Chamba and Kinnaur got light to moderate spell of snow. Most of places in the three districts are under freezing temperatures since last one month expecting more rain and snowfall in next 24 hours as cloud are hovering the sky.
Dhauladhar ranges and Barabangal of Kangra district, high passes and high reaches of Kullu and Shimla were overcast and expecting rain and snow, while wroting this report.
Tourists who are booking for the Christmas and New year party in the state hills station may not be welcomed by white Christmas and New year however abundant sunshines may greet them providing the much needed resite from foggy conditions in the plains
Tourists Resort Dalhousie, Shimla, Narkanda and Manali remain partly cloudy since yesterday but weatherman do not predict any major change in the prevailing weather conditions.
The Maximum temperature may dip due to inclement weather conditions and minimum temperature stayed normal to above normal,as it was six degrees in Shimla and Manali, three degrees in Narkanda, four degrees in Kufri and Solan.
Air quality index of Dharmshala and many hill station in Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur was very poor reducing visibility due to partly cloudy and foggy weather conditions.
IMD forecast fresh snowfall in high reaches and rain in isolated places of the mid hills.
