Three days of wet weather has thrown life out of gear as heavy snowfall has disrupted Lahaul Spiti district. According to the Meteorological Department, Hansa in Lahaul Spiti district had 30 cm (one ft) of fresh snow, Gondhla had eight cm, Keylong had 7.5 cm, Kothi in Kullu had 7.5 cm, and Kukumseri in Lahaul Spiti district had 3.8 cm.
Around 45 roads, including MH-3 from Sarchu to Darcha and Darcha to Shrinkula pass, are snowbound. Higher reaches of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, and Chamba districts received one foot of fresh snowfall. The last bordering village in Kinnaur, Chhitkul, had around one ft of fresh snowfall as well.
Tourist favourite Manali (Kullu) received 82 mm of precipitation, Kothi 42 mm, Seobagh 40.6 mm, Banjar 38.4 mm, Jhandutta in Bilaspur received 35 mm, Saloni in Chamba 28.3 mm, Dalhousie 27 mm, Bhunter 26.2 mm, Bharmaur in Chamba district 24 mm, and Jot 23 mm.
The minimum temperature of Keylong was minus 0.9 degrees, Manali and Kalpa recorded one degree, tourist resort Narkanda 5.4 degrees, Dalhousie 7.2 degrees, Kufri 8.8 degrees, Shimla, Solan, Chamba, and Mandi recorded ten degrees each, Dharmshala and Hamirpur 12 degrees, Kangra 11.6 degrees, Una 12.8 degrees, and Bilaspur 12.9 degrees. Nahan (Sirmour) recorded 17.2 degrees.
The weather is expected to be mainly dry in the next 24 hours.
