Even as the passenger services of Railways have been put on halt due to corona outbreak, Ambala division of Indian Railway is ensuring continuous supply of essential goods from North Part of the country to rest of India through its freight operation services. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Ambala Hari Mohan informed that that the Ambala division had loaded 23 rakes on April 9 comprising of 20 food grains, 1 container rake and 2 rakes of fertilizers for which division recorded highest single day revenue from freight operation amounting Rs. 10.4 crores. This year revenue has surpassed the previous record of 10.1 crores in 2019, he added.
Mohan further emphasized that all precautions are being undertaken while loading of such trains. Labourers and staff are regularly provided with masks, sanitizers and gloves etc. Social distancing is also observed while handling of trains. To ensure relentless supply across the country, close coordination with state authorities are being maintained.
