Shimla, Oct 25,
To accelerate tourism-led economic growth, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Tourism Investment Promotion Council (TIPC) that will serve as a single-window mechanism to attract, evaluate, and facilitate tourism investments across the State.
Chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Council will ensure transparent and efficient clearance processes for investors seeking to develop tourism infrastructure — such as hotels, wellness centers, adventure and eco-tourism projects.
The TIPC aims to position Himachal as a high-value, sustainable tourism destination by coordinating between departments, minimizing bureaucratic delays, and aligning private investment with the State’s tourism vision.
Officials said that the Council will also identify potential tourism circuits, especially those beyond the traditional hill stations, thereby encouraging balanced regional development and employment generation.
The Cabinet also approved amendments in the Himachal Pradesh Town and Country Planning Rules, 2014, aligning them with the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2025–26 scheme — a move expected to ease infrastructure development approvals.
Additionally, the Cabinet designated the Himachal Pradesh General Industries Corporation as the nodal agency for procurement, storage, transport, quality testing, and supply of Extra Neutral Alcohol and spirits used by pharmaceutical units across the State.
The government also decided to streamline monitoring of the Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojna and the H.P. Crop Diversification Project (JICA Phase-II) for better coordination between departments, the State Project for Natural Farming (SPNF), and JICA.
According to officials, these reforms will foster improved governance and ensure tangible outcomes from flagship agricultural and tourism initiatives.
