Addressing the media at Rajiv Bhavan, she emphasized the urgency of finalizing the committee, especially with the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections in the state. She asserted that a strong organizational framework is essential to bolster the party’s grassroots presence and prepare for the political challenges ahead.
Rajni Patil, who has previously served as Himachal Pradesh Congress in-charge, is expected to play a key role in strengthening the state unit. Singh highlighted that Patil’s experience and understanding of the state’s political landscape would be an asset in fortifying the party structure.
In a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central Government, Pratibha Singh accused Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu of presenting misleading statistics on financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh and railway developments.
She claimed that Bittu, who recently visited Shimla, lacked accurate information on central aid provided to the state. Singh criticized the BJP government for failing to deliver on its promises and accused it of indulging in hollow rhetoric instead of addressing the state’s real needs.
Demands for political appointments in Government
Singh also expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in appointing chairpersons and vice-chairpersons to various state government bodies, urging the Congress-led state government to recognize the contributions of party workers.
She stressed that loyal party workers who dedicated themselves to the Congress during elections should be duly accommodated in government positions. Singh revealed that she had repeatedly raised this issue with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and urged the leadership to ensure that committed workers are rewarded.
“The party must not overlook those who stood by us in tough times. Their contributions should be acknowledged through key appointments,” she asserted.
With internal restructuring on the horizon and mounting criticism of the BJP government, the Himachal Pradesh Congress is gearing up for a strategic political battle ahead.
