Shimla, Nov 28,
The Himachal Pradesh government has announced its decision to appoint social media coordinators for all cabinet ministers. As per a notification issued on November 25, 2024, the Council of Ministers has approved the hiring of two social media handlers for each minister. These appointments will be made on a nomination basis and will be co-terminus with the tenure of the respective ministers.
This step aims to enhance the digital outreach of the government and ensure better communication with the public through social media platforms. The notification, conveyed by the Secretary of Information and Public Relations (I&PR), highlights the growing importance of social media as a tool for governance and public engagement.
The Information and Public Relations Department has requested senior officials to apprise the ministers about the notification to initiate the necessary process for the appointments.
Decision was a new move to face the backlash of social media posts which some time cause damage the image of council of ministers as rebuttal of such posts becomes necessary.
