The Himachal Pradesh government has announced an exemption from the Special Road Tax (SRT) for truck drivers from other states during the current apple season. This exemption applies to those transporting apples and potatoes into and out of the state and is not covered under the National Permit.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri confirmed the exemption, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to supporting horticulturists and farmers. “We are dedicated to protecting the interests of our horticulturists and farmers,” said Agnihotri. “The Transport Department is making continuous efforts to facilitate the transportation of horticultural and agricultural products and provide all possible assistance to them.”
The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted that all necessary preparations have been made by the Transport Department in anticipation of the monsoon and apple season. He urged all stakeholders to comply with road safety rules to ensure smooth and safe transportation.
