The new academic session commenced across Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday in around 6100 government schools after nearly 50 days of winter vacation. Promoted to the next classes, children returned to campuses with renewed enthusiasm, marking the beginning of a fresh academic year. Morning assemblies, distribution of books, and classroom interactions set the tone for the session, while teachers welcomed students and oriented them to their new syllabi.
The stated that all necessary preparations had been completed in advance. Schools have been directed to ensure that attendance of teachers and students is marked on the VSK portal from the very first day. The admission process in government schools has also begun simultaneously, with the department aiming to increase student enrollment this year. Officials said a new initiative launched in the previous session to strengthen government schools is now being intensified. Institutions are being branded on the lines of private schools, with headmasters and teachers reaching out to parents through social media campaigns, pamphlets, slogans, rallies, and door-to-door awareness drives.
Deputy District Education Officer (Primary), Solan, Rajkumar Parashar, said special enrollment campaigns are being conducted in every school to motivate parents. School heads have been asked to highlight achievements and facilities such as the Mid-Day Meal scheme, nutrition programmes, free uniforms and textbooks, improved furniture, modern science and IT labs, and smart classrooms. Deputy Director of Elementary Education Mohinder Chand Pirta emphasized that government schools are committed to providing quality education and appealed to parents to place their trust in the public education system.
Meanwhile, Chairman senior officer recently met Chief Minister at Himachal Sadan in New Delhi to brief him on administrative reforms and digital initiatives. The Chief Minister directed the Board to expand online services so that students, especially from remote areas, can access certificates, migration documents, and corrections without visiting the Dharamshala headquarters. The Chairman assured that several services will soon be available at a single click, making education services more accessible and transparent across the state.
