The Himachal Pradesh 14th legislative assembly’s first and winter session convened by state Governor Rajinder Vishavnath Arhlekar at Tapovan Vidhansabha complex in Dharamshala from December 22 now stands deferred due to the CM contracting Corona Virus today.
Principal advisor (Media) Naresh Chauhan confirmed, here that all engagements and programmes of the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu scheduled from 21st to 24th December, 2022 have been postponed. Chauhan said that ‘Aabhar Rally’ slated to be organized at Dharamasala on 21st December has been postponed. He said that next dates for these events would be finalized soon.
The state assembly was scheduled to met before end of 13th state assembly tenure ending on January 8, 2023. Vidhan Sabha Spokesperson confirmed that new session defer till next month. He said that new House would take oath before Jan 9 , 2023 as tenure of Assembly going to expire on January 8. Issuing notification on December 16, 2022, it had decided earlier to dedicate first day of session on December 22 for oath of newly elected legislators and introduction of Chief minister and his cabinet members.
On December 23 on the Second day Election of new speaker and deputy speaker and Inaugural Guv address by Himachal Pradesh Rajinder Vishavnath Arhlekar. Cabinet expansion also be likely during and before the session however no scheduled was issued sofar. Including Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri two members are currently inducted in the government.
Congress has 40 members in 14 the state legislative Assembly, BJP 25 and Independent three. House may elect leader of Opposition during the session. Senior most members of Vidhansabha and Congress MLA from Jawali Chander Kumar (82) has been appointed protem speaker by the Governor who would administer oath of office and secrecy to the new members in the house, according to their seniority.
