Shimla, May 17,
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has allowed the Shirgul Bishu Mela Committee, Andheri, in Renuka area of Sirmaur district to organize the annual Mela from May 28 to May 31, 2025, at the playgrounds of Government Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana [Andheri], and Government Primary School, Andheri. The permission comes despite earlier restrictions imposed through a Public Interest Litigation.
While hearing CMP of 2025, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma granted permission citing similar approval in 2023. “Keeping in view the above, we allow this application and permit the applicant-Shirgul Bishu Mela Committee to organize Shirgul Bishu Mela…,” stated the Bench.
Advocate Rajesh Kumar Sharma appeared for the applicant, while Deputy Advocate General Sidharth Jalta represented the State. The court directed that the school property must not be damaged, the grounds be returned in a clean state, law and order be ensured by local administration, and the Mela Committee deposit ₹10,000 into the school’s student welfare fund.
