Shimla, May 9
Amit Kumar Negi, a Himachal Pradesh based mountaineer who has scaled the world’s highest peak, Mt. Everest, has now triumphed India’s highest mountain Kanchanjunga successfully unfurling Indian Tricolour there on May 7, 2022. The breakthrough was confirmed by the spokesperson of state disaster Management authority Sudesh Mokta, sharing a rare picture of Negi on the top of the Kanchenjunga peak. This is the highest mountain peak in India and 3rd highest peak in the world, having an elevation of 28,169 ft.
Kanchanjunga is situated in India- Nepal Himalayas range in Sikkim. 27yrs old Everester Negi belongs to Batseri village of Kinnaur district and had climbed Everest in May 2021 successfully. He was in Nepal for three months last year. He started his expedition to fathom Kanchanjunga on April 2, 2022.
It is worthwhile to mention that Dicky Dolma from Himachal is also an Indian mountaineer who has the honours to have become the youngest woman to scale Mount Everest at the age of 19 on May 10, 1993.
