Shimla, June 21
Four people were killed and three others were injured when an HRTC bus plunged into a gorge at Giltadi in the Jubbal subdivision of Shimla district on Friday morning.
According to Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi, the incident occurred early in the morning while the bus was en route from Kudu to Giltadi. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to tumble into a deep gorge. Among the fatalities were the driver and the conductor.
At the time of the accident, there were seven individuals on board. The three survivors, who sustained severe injuries, have been transported to the hospital for treatment.
The deceased have been identified as HRTC driver Karam Dass, conductor Rakesh Kumar, Birma Devi (wife of Amar Singh), and Dhan Shah (son of Chander Shah, a Nepalese citizen).
The injured passengers are Jiyender Rangta, Deepika, daughter of Sanjay Thakur from Giltari, and Hast Bahadur.
Authorities have recovered the bodies from the wreckage and will release them to the families following postmortem examinations. The police are currently investigating the cause of the crash, which left the bus completely destroyed.
