Shimla, Oct 18,
The Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has addressed recent misconceptions regarding changes in its freight charges. The corporation clarified that there has been no increase in fares for personal or household goods weighing up to 30 kg per passenger, including two bags or boxes of any size.
The recent amendment in the freight policy only affects commercial items like automobile spare parts, electronics, dry fruits, new vessels, cosmetics, hosiery items, medicines, and medical appliances. The fare for these commercial goods has been significantly reduced by 75 percent. For instance, a bag weighing four kg, which previously required a full passenger fare, now incurs only one-fourth of the fare.
HRTC reiterated that there has been no change in fares for personal belongings such as household items, apple boxes, school bags, women’s purses, laptops, and fruit or vegetable boxes. The corporation urged the public to disregard misleading reports about the fare amendment, as they are inaccurate and may lead to confusion.
