Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur and Solan based Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences figured among the top Science and educational institutes National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021.
Union human resource development minister Dharmendra Pradhan released the NRIF rankings on Thursday which displayed IIT Mandi in the overall ranking of 82 while the institute had bagged 41st rank in engineering.
Hamipur based NIT also figured in the 23rd rank in architecture.
Private university Shoolini bagged 89th rank in top 100 universities ranking while its pharmaceutical school ranked 36th in the NIRF ranking.
Though state houses as many as17 private university bearing one, no others figured in the 100 NIRF ranking.
This is the first time that the University, which has ranked top in Himachal Pradesh, has been included in the top 100 list. For the last four consecutive years it was being ranked in the 101-150 category.
Shoolini University vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla said the university had achieved the ranking because of its exceptional faculty and researchers. “All efforts will be made to achieve the target of getting in the top league of global universities.
The university had performed better than all other universities in Himachal Pradesh. The state has five government universities and 17 private universities but no other university figures in the top 100 list of universities,” he added.
In the over-all ranking it is among top five universities in the region north of Delhi which includes Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh.
It has also been ranked about top 200 institutions in the country which include IIMs, IITs and other established institutions. The country has about one lakh institutions of higher learning.
