IMD issues dense fog alert for 6 Himachal districts
Shimla, Jan 4
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a dense fog alert on Thursday for six districts in Himachal Pradesh, advising commuters to drive carefully during the morning hours over the next 48 hours.
In a yellow alert, the IMD stated that dense fog may envelop isolated pockets in the districts of Mandi, Bilaspur, Una, Kangra, Sirmaur (Paonta Sahib & Dhaula Kuan), and Solan (Baddi and Nalagarh) during the morning hours in the next two days. The weather is expected to remain mainly dry, but fog conditions in these districts, especially in low-lying areas and along rivers and dams, may disrupt vehicular traffic.
In an advisory to commuters, the weathermen cautioned that they should drive carefully during the morning hours. The prevailing dry cold wave may also impact standing crops and young plants, potentially causing cold injury and dead tissues (yellowing of tips). Fog can result in stunted growth, discoloration, and wilting.
The prevailing dry weather conditions are expected to persist until January 8 in the state.
