Justice Justice Ravi Malimath administered oath of HP High Court Judge

Justice Ravi Malimath today assumed the charge of office as Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. He was administered oath of office by the Chief Justice L. Narayana Swamy in a simple but impressive ceremony held at the High Court premises. Prior to this assignment, Justice Ravi Malimath was serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Uttarakhand.

The state high court has 12 posts for judges. However currently only 8 were filled. Now with Justice Malimath assuming charge the number has grown to nine.

On this occasion, Judges of H.P. High Court, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Sureshwar Thakur, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia, Justice Anoop Chitkara and Justice Jyotsana Rewal Dua were also present.

The Registrar General, Virender Singh conducted the proceedings. Adhering to the instructions issued for containment of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, only a limited number of persons were present on the occasion and the others joined the oath ceremony proceedings on virtual platform.

About Justice Malimath

Justice Malimath was born on 25-05-1962. He enrolled as an Advocate on 28-01-1987 at Bangalore and practiced in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Labour and Service matters, mainly at Karnataka High Court, Bangalore. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka on 18-02-2008 and permanent Judge on 17-02-2010. He was transferred to High Court of Uttarakhand and assumed office of a Judge of High Court of Uttarakhand on 05.03.2020. He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Uttarakhand w.e.f. 28.07.2020.
