Shimla, December 11
The Mandi unit of Centre Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has alleged that the tender for four lane construction between Pandoh to Nagchala in Mandi district has been given to a KMC construction company(Pvt). It is indulged in violation of labour law and endangering lives of workers.
President of Mandi unit of CITU Bhupendra Singh said in a statement issued here on Sunday that company is not disbursing salary of workers in a time bound manner and they are not registered with Construction Labour Board.
He said that a workers are forced to work in life threatening conditions without safety kits. A workers died recently due to electrocution as he was not provided safety kit. The deceased worker was not registered with Construction worker Boards by the company and assistance of Rs four lakh couldn’t be provided to next of deceased.
If complany had registered its workers with the board they could be extended help in such eventuality.
He said that CITU has now formed union of 200 KMC company workers as the earlier union compromise with the interest of workers. The CITU leader gave warning to employer company to release monthly salary of workers in time as they are being paid after two or three months.
