Shimla, Sept 12
Reports arriving here that a local from Kullu has drowned in the Chandertal lake at Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. DEOC Lahaul Spiti reported an incident of Drowning at Chander Tal in Sub Division Lahaul falling under PS Kaza.
Tso Chigma or Chandra Taal, or Chandra Tal alias lake of the moon cresent is situated at a height of 4250 meters, in the Lahaul part of the district. Chandra Taal is near the source of the Chandra River. The lake is a favourite for tourists and high altitude trekkers.
The incidence is reported to have taken place in the evening of September 11 on Sunday. However the reasons for drowning are yet unknown. More details are awaited, as the police teams are on the spot, where mobile connectivity is weak and thus could not be contacted.
The missing person has been identified as Pawan Kumar S/o Pes Ram, resident of Village Buragran, in District Kullu.
A spokesperson of DEOC Lahaul stated that the divers team in Sunder Nagar has been contacted. The body has not been retrieved yet. More details are awaited.
