Keylong, May 27
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Lahaul-Spiti, has issued a fresh landslide advisory warning commuters and residents about continuous rockfall and landslide activity near Mooling Bridge on National Highway-03 and Jahlama Bridge on the SKTT road.
According to the advisory issued on May 27 by the Deputy Commissioner’s office, an approximately one-kilometre stretch near Mooling Bridge on NH-03 has been identified as a highly landslide-prone zone.
The administration has also reported the development of cracks on the hillside near Jahlama Bridge, triggering continuous landslides and shooting stones in the area.
The advisory stated that vulnerable slopes along both routes may witness further stone shooting and slides, posing a serious threat to traffic movement and public safety. Travellers and local residents have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel through these stretches and use only safe routes while following all precautionary measures.

Authorities have directed commuters to strictly follow instructions issued by the local administration, police and Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Drivers have specifically been advised not to halt vehicles near vulnerable hill slopes and to remain alert while crossing these stretches.
The warning comes amid ongoing landslide incidents in Lahaul valley over the past several days, especially near Jahlama village where continuous rockfall has already damaged road connectivity on the strategically important Sansari-Killar-Tindi-Thirot (SKTT) road. The disruption has affected connectivity between Lahaul, Pangi valley, Keylong and Manali, leaving commuters and tourists stranded on both sides of the route.
Officials said BRO teams and district authorities are monitoring the situation closely and efforts are underway to restore safe movement wherever possible. The administration has appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities and avoid travelling in vulnerable areas until conditions improve.
The District Emergency Operations Centre has also issued helpline numbers for emergencies and assistance related to landslides and road blockages in the district.
