Kullu, Sept 11
All the four stranded mountaineers missing near Aliratni Tibba Kullu since 7th September, are traced by Air Force (Heli Operation), informed Sudesh Mokta of the disaster managment authority. He added thaf all trekkers are safe and will reach their Base Camp tonight. All Trekkers will stay at Base Camp tonight and will come back tomorrow morning with SAR Team.
Earlier this morning two Air Force Helicopters had left Bhuntar airport with 6 Air Officials for search and rescue operation at 10.00 AM.
On friday morning, a rescue team of 20 members was also despatched which travelled for 48 hours before they could reach the site where the trekkers from West Bengal had gone missing.
Giving update about the rescue mission, the spokesperson of the disaster managment authority informed that out of the total seven, 3 trekkers were safe whereas these four were missing.
The four trekkers had gone missing while exloring near peak Alirathni Tibba situated at a height of 5470 meters above sea level. Thereafter, two members of trekking team and one cook had come back to Wachem(near Malana) and informed about the incident. Those safe trekkers were identified as Manoj Nath age 33 years, Lakpa Sherpa age 50 years and Aragya Mondol age 30 years.
The missing trekkers, which have now been traced are Abhijit Banik, 43, Chinmoy Mondal, 43, Dibash Das, 37 and Binoy Das, 31. All four are told to be professional mountaineers.The two Search and Rescue Team included of 20 personnel from Police, ABHIMAS & Shiva Rescue agency.
