Shimla, Aug 17
South West monsoon and number of natural disasters have taken heavy toll of lives and property in the state as 272 people have lost life in the state till Monday. State Disaster Management Authority said in a press bulletin issued that Shimla and Kinnuar had lost 40 human lives each, 28 in Sirmaur, 26 in Kangra, 24 in Chamba, 20 each in Solan and Lahaul Spiti, 18 in Kullu, 15 in Una ,14 in Bilaspur and six in Hamipur.
A total of 127 people died in rain related road mishap, 45 in landslides, 33 in room, building and falling from cliff, 25 in drowning, 14 in others incidents, 10 in flash flood, eight due to snake bites, five in electricutation and two in fire and one due man animal conflict. 34 People have been killed in Kinnaur landslides mishap and ten in Kangra district.
Rain related mishap caused loss of Rs 793 Cr to state and public property. 537 animal and cattle died and washed away in the monsoon rains.
Currently state witnessing subdued monsoon rains however landslides mishaps are still continuing.
