NCSC takes notice of withholding of original documents by a pvt University

National Commission for Schedule Caste has taken cognizance on a Himachal Scape news items pulling up the state Government for an attempt by a private University in the state to withhold the original documents of some SC students. In a press note issued here today by the commission they said that it has issued notice to Himachal govt to take immediate action on the incident of not returning original papers to students, thus jeopardizing their precious careers.
HS on tuesday had reported that a private university is not releasing the document of hundreds of students belonging to SC category by keeping them in violation of UGC norms which did not permit any institutions to keep the Original documents
The NCSC has displayed strong resentment over the action of pvt university to keep the documents of students on the allbi of providing them SC/ST Scholarship or free education. Even state educational regulatory Commission had observed that the original papers withheld should be handed over to student seeking report from the state.
Taking strong notice of Indus International University Una’s decision to withhold the original documents of Scheduled Caste students studying in various courses under SC/ST Scholarship scheme, National Commission for Scheduled
Castes led by Chairman Vijay Sampla has issued notice to the Government of Himachal asking them to ensure the immediate release of the original documents.
Terming University’s decision as unacceptable, Vijay Sampla added that whatever may be the circumstances or reasons private university cannot play with the career of SC/ST students.
NCSC has issued notice to Chief Secretary Himachal, Principal Secretary Department of Empowerment SC’s, OBC’s, Minorities & specially abled; Principal Secretary Department of Education; Secretary Himachal Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission and Vice Chancellor Indus International University Una, asking them to submit an action taken report to NCSC within fifteen days.
