Shimla, March 1,
Himachal Pradesh Congress incharge Rajni Patil has temporarily dismissed speculation regarding any immediate change in the state party’s top leadership. While the new Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) executive is expected to be formed within the next fortnight, Patil made it clear that there is no directive from the party high command to replace the current state chief.
Addressing media queries on the potential reshuffle of the state Congress chief position along with other organizational announcements, Patil stated that she had not received any instructions from the Central leadership. “There has been no directive regarding the change of leadership in the state unit. If any decision is taken later, it will be considered accordingly,” she said.
Speculation has been mounting as HPCC president Pratibha Singh’s tenure nears completion. Reports of tensions between the state government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and the Congress organization under Pratibha Singh have been circulating for months. However, Patil’s arrival has sparked hopes for resolution and better coordination between the two entities.
“My primary objective is to bridge the gap between the government and the party unit. Now that I am here, everything will be fine,” Patil assured.
Confirming the imminent formation of a new state executive, Patil said the restructuring will be completed within 15 days and will include representatives from all communities and social groups. Over the past two days, she has been holding meetings at the Congress headquarters, gathering feedback from party leaders.
Patil acknowledged reports of an alleged conflict between the government and the party unit but downplayed the severity of the situation. “There is no major conflict, just a lack of coordination, which I have come to resolve,” she said.
Using a metaphor to describe the current state of affairs within the party, Patil remarked, “The embers are still burning; they only need a little air to reignite. I am here to provide that push and strengthen the party.”
With Patil’s assurance of swift action and better coordination, party workers are now eagerly awaiting the restructuring of the state unit. Her visit and the subsequent report to the party high command are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future leadership of the Himachal Pradesh Congress.
