NH-5 traffic to be restored thru ‘bailey’ bridge in a week – Vikramaditya Singh

Himachal Pradesh Public Works, Youth Services and Sports Minister Vikramaditya Singh today inspected the National Highway-05 obstructed due to landslide in Theog on the spot.

The Public Works Minister said that NH 05 will be restored for one way traffic within a week through ‘Bailey’ Bridge, which will be about 100 meters in length. With the completion of the construction work of Valley Bridge, people will be able to travel on this road.
He said that construction material will be available for the construction work of Valley Bridge by tomorrow, after which work on war footing will be completed within a week. He directed SDM and DSP Theog to work in coordination with the Public Works Department for their improvement by identifying alternative routes so that alternative routes could be used till the construction work of Valley Bridge is completed.
He said that the remaining work on the Theog bypass road would also be completed at the earliest so that this road could also be used during the apple season. He said that the approval of Rs 8 crore has been obtained from the Center for Theog by-pass road, after which the construction work would be started on a war footing.
He said that apart from this, instructions have been given to the department to identify other such places so that such incidents do not happen in other places.
After this, he also inspected the sunken part of Theog bypass road. He directed the concerned officials to speed up the construction work so that road traffic could be restored before July 31.
