Shimla, Sept 26,
A #cloudburst struck Amboya Khala in #Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur district, on Thursday, resulting in the tragic loss of one life. Rangi, son of Kanshu, was buried under debris and later succumbed to his injuries. The incident also caused substantial property damage, with several shops, bridges, and other structures being destroyed.
In addition to the cloudburst, heavy rains have led to the formation of an artificial lake near Angle Station in Sataun. The rising water level poses a threat to the nearby SC colony, as inadequate drainage has allowed water to accumulate from the NH and surrounding areas. Authorities are yet to implement a plan to address this issue effectively.
The state capital, #Shimla, has also been severely impacted by #torrential rains. Flooded roads, overflowing drains, and traffic jams have disrupted daily life. #Landslides have occurred in various parts of the city, with one car becoming trapped in debris near Tolland.
As landslides and #flash floods become increasingly common due to the intense rainfall, both Sirmaur and Shimla are facing the challenges of recovering from this weather event. Many areas in the state have been brought to a standstill, highlighting the urgent need for infrastructure improvements and disaster preparedness measures.
